DETROIT (AP) — A groundbreaking is scheduled for a new 5-story medical office building in Detroit's resurging Midtown.
The Wayne State University Physician Group will take part in Monday's ceremony on Woodward Avenue.
The $68 million project is expected to open in 2016 and centralize providers from nearby Physician Group clinics. It will replace an outdated and smaller facility.
Midtown Project LLC is the property owner. The Ferchill Group is the developer.
Physician Group Chief Executive Dr. Robert Frank says the new building represents a "commitment to being a good neighbor by helping to shape the future of health care in the city and investing in the well-being of Detroiters."
Doctors in the Physician Group also provide instruction for medical students and residents each year in their practices and affiliated hospitals.
