COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Several dozen students are graduating from a Department of Juvenile Justice program intended to help young people stay away from delinquency and gangs.
The agency's Gang Resistance Education and Training program is holding a graduation Friday for 30 young people at the Show Them We Care Teen After School Center in Columbia.
Former Pittsburgh Steelers and Seattle Seahawks player Willie James Williams Jr. is scheduled to speak.
Agency officials say this is the first graduating class at the center. G.R.E.A.T. is a national gang, violence and bullying prevention program built around school-based, law enforcement officer-instructed classroom activities.
