INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana's higher education commissioner wants college students to get the message that they should take at least 15 credit hours each semester if they expect to graduate on time.
Commissioner Teresa Lubbers on Monday kicked off a statewide campaign called "15 to Finish" that she hopes will boost college graduation rates. She says data show that students who complete 15 or more credits per semester are more likely to graduate on time, earn better grades and save money earning their degrees.
Lubbers says only about half of Indiana college students take enough courses each semester to graduate on time.
She says the "15 to Finish" campaign aims to change a longstanding perception that taking 12 credits per semester is enough to graduate on time.
