BERLIN, N.H. (AP) — Four hospitals in New Hampshire's North Country are working together to create a coordinated health care network that could improve quality and lower costs.
Officials with Androscoggin Valley Hospital, Littleton Regional Healthcare, Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital and Weeks Medical Center have signed a non-binding letter of intent to create a common parent organization. Officials say each nonprofit hospital would maintain its own identity, but would exchange some of its autonomy to enable the development of the new network.
The hospitals expect to develop an agreement that, if approved, would lead to the formation of the new parent organization in 2015. They plan to hold community information meetings next month.
