MORGAN, Utah (AP) — Fire crews in northern Utah were working Tuesday evening to gain some control over two fast-growing, lightning-caused blazes.
The Tunnel Hollow Fire burning along the Weber River five miles east of the town of Morgan had charred about 1.5 square miles in steep terrain and was 10 percent contained Tuesday evening.
No structures were threatened but the river was closed to recreationalists.
To the southwest in Tooele County, firefighters were battling the Anaconda Fire that forced evacuations of about 10 homes for several hours Monday.
Fire spokeswoman Kim Osborn says the blaze was about 450 acres and five percent contained Tuesday evening and no longer threatening structures.
National Weather Service forecasters say the area will see triple-digit temperatures, possible thunderstorms and some wind gusts Wednesday afternoon.
