MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho (AP) — A Mountain Home man has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the March 2013 death of his 22-month-old stepson.
Richard R. Laubach entered his plea Monday in District Court in Elmore County.
Prosecutors say Laubach and the boy, Joseph Graham III, were home alone when the boy suffered traumatic head injuries along with broken legs and bruises on March 12, 2013. The boy died at a Boise hospital the next day.
Court records said Laubach had been charged in September 2012 with misdemeanor domestic battery and injury to a child for an assault on his wife and the boy. Prosecutors dropped the charges after Laubach agreed to complete an anger management program and other counseling.
Laubach is to be sentenced on Sept. 19.
