NEW YORK (AP) — Authorities say a patient has been treated for minor facial cuts after a bullet partially shattered a New York City hospital window.

Police went to the Hospital for Special Surgery on Manhattan's Upper East Side around 5:45 a.m. Friday following reports of a shooting.

Hospital spokeswoman Elyse Bernstein says the 30-year-old patient was in a room facing 71st Street on the building's eighth floor.

Bernstein says hospital staff immediately called 911. The woman is in stable condition.

Police say crime scene investigators have been extracting a possible bullet fragment from between two windowpanes.

Police haven't yet determined whether the bullet was intended for the patient's room.

They say there have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
