ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management has given the go-head for a pipeline project in Eureka County.
The agency on Tuesday signed a record of decision and findings that the pipeline right of way will have no significant environmental impact.
Prospector Pipeline Co. intends to bury a 12-inch pipe along an 18-mile route to deliver natural gas from the North Elko Pipeline to Newmont Mining Co.'s Leeville and Gold Quarry mines.
The project requires a 100-foot wide temporary right of way during construction, and a 30-foot wide permanent right of way when completed.
Officials say the project will improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions and enhance safety.
