(NBC News) -- Several people have come forward saying they received e-mails asking for donations to help pay for the care of Randal McCloy, the West Virginia miner who survived being trapped by an explosion.

Complainants say they received e-mails from a man claiming to be a West Virginia doctor.

The doctor said he was raising money for Randal McCloy. The F.B.I. says the e-mails are fake, and originated in India.
