LITITZ, Pa. (AP) — A central Pennsylvania barn fire has killed 37,000 chickens.

The fire happened shortly after noon Tuesday in Elizabeth Township at a two-story chicken house owned by Nathan and Veronica Myer. The chickens were owned by high-end poultry producer Bell & Evans.

A fire official says the blaze may have been caused by an electrical malfunction and the building appears to be a total loss.
