BOSTON (AP) - The Christian Science Monitor, the 105-year-old newspaper owned by the First Church of Christ, Scientist, has named Marshall Ingwerson as its new editor.
Ingwerson has served as the publication's managing editor since 1999 and was previously its correspondent in Moscow, Miami, Los Angeles and Washington.
He will replace John Yemma, who is stepping down to concentrate on writing and to pursue other creative activities.
The change will take effect in late January, the newspaper said.
Lyle Young, chairman of the Christian Science board of directors, told the newspaper that Ingwerson brings a proven record of "integrity, clarity, balance, humility, and insight" to the position and is committed to the newspaper's mission "of spreading truth to the corners of the earth."
