WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Department of Education will cut off federal student financial aid to three Medtech College campuses in the Washington area.
The agency said in a news release Tuesday that the campuses in D.C., Falls Church, Virginia, and Silver Spring, Maryland, enroll about 750 students. Officials say Medtech misrepresented job placement rates.
According to Medtech's website, the company offers courses in practical nursing, medical assistant, lab assistant, dental assistant and English as a second language.
Education officials say the three Medtech campuses will be barred from taking part in student aid programs on Sunday. The schools have until Aug. 5 to dispute the action.
Medtech did not immediately return a voicemail left seeking comment.
