ETS's Test Operations Management System Wins Top Prize
PRINCETON, N.J., April 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The IMS
Global Learning Consortium has announced that Educational Testing
Service (ETS) and ETS-owned Computerized Assessments and Learning
(CA&L) have received top marks for their submission of the
K-12-oriented Test Operations Management System (TOMS) in the IMS
Accessible Portable Item ProtocolT (APIP) conformance certification
challenge. ETS and CA&L will be presented with their platinum level
Learning Impact Award medals during an awards ceremony in New Orleans
this May.
The TOMS system is a statewide assessment management tool with a wide
range of capabilities that was developed for ETS's K-12 Testing
Programs. The system was entered into and certified as APIP compliant
through the e-Assessment Certification Challenge, which ensures that
computer-delivered tests are accessible to the greatest number of
students possible.
"ETS takes its mission to advance quality and equity in learning
worldwide through policy research and assessment development very
seriously," said Daniel Wakeman, ETS Vice President and Chief
Information Officer. "That is why we are thrilled to see IMS's
independent, third-party validation of our work to improve the TOMS
assessment management system."
The competition's evaluators included representatives from the
Minnesota Department of Education, the Maryland Department of
Education, the WIDA Consortium and WestEd. The panelists selected the
winners based on a number of factors, including success in achieving
conformance certification, features and functionality.
In addition to receiving the platinum level award for their work on
ETS's TOMS, CA&L will also be receiving a silver-level award for its
submission of the APIP-certified CA&L Test Delivery system.
