AC/DC'S MALCOLM YOUNG TAKES LEAVE FROM BAND
NEW YORK (AP) — AC/DC acknowledge guitarist Malcolm Young is sick but they are not breaking up. The band issued a statement saying Young, who is 61, will take a break from the band because of ill health. They did not go into specifics as to what his illness is. AC/DC plan to continue to make music. Frontman Brian Johnson told UK's Telegraph a band member had "a debilitating illness" but he didn't want to say anything more about it. Mark Gable of The Choirboys, who's friends with Young, tells Australian Broadcasting radio he doubts Young will ever record again.
B.B. KING ISSUES APOLOGY FOR ST. LOUIS SHOW
ST. LOUIS (AP) — B.B. King admits he messed up with his show in St. Louis on April 4. King has issued an apology and is asking fans for their understanding. During the show, King missed his cues, wouldn't finish songs, told long-winded stories and led the crowd in a 15-minute sing-along of "You Are My Sunshine." King's publicist has issued a statement blaming the weird behavior on a 24-hour drive from Las Vegas to St. Louis, coupled with King missing his diabetes medicine that day.
MILEY CYRUS STILL RECOVERING FROM ALLERGY TO ANTIBIOTICS
NEW YORK (AP) — A rep for Miley Cyrus says the singer is expected to appear at her next concert — tomorrow night in Nashville, Tennessee. But first, she has to be released from the hospital — where she is being treated for a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics. The illness caused Cyrus to miss last night's show in St. Louis. In a tweet, Cyrus says the hospital won't let her out. Also canceled was a show Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri — and last week, she scrubbed a stop in Charlotte, North Carolina — because of the flu.
VERUCA SALT REBAND
UNDATED (AP) — Veruca Salt are reuniting. The four original members will tour beginning June 22 in Portland, Oregon. They will also release a limited-edition 10-inch vinyl with two new songs on one side and "Seether" on the other for Record Store Day on Saturday. The band say on their Web site there is much more to tell but "we're too busy relearning all our old songs and recording new ones." Singer Nina Gordon left the band in 1998 after a dispute with singer Louise Post. Post continued the band with different players until Veruca Salt eventually went on hiatus.
WILLIE NELSON WILL GET FIFTH-DEGREE BLACK BELT IN GONG KWON YU SUL
AUSTIN, Tex. (AP) — Willie Nelson is about to turn 81, and he's about to get promoted in martial arts. Nelson will receive his fifth-degree black belt in the art of Gong Kwon Yu Sul, a Korean martial arts system, on April 28 in Austin, Texas. Nelson has practiced martial arts since he was a songwriter in Nashville. He often practices on his tour bus.
''AMERICAN IDOL" - CONTESTANTS' CHOICE
LOS ANGELES (AP) — There were some hits, some misses on "American Idol," as the contestants sang songs other contestants chose for them. The judges loved Caleb Johnson doing "Family Tree" but were lukewarm to Sam Woolf's version of "Sail Away." Harry Connick Junior told Jena (JEE'-nah) Irene she did major damage with her rendition of "Creep." He said CJ Harris had his best performance to date with "Gravity." Connick recommended Jessica Meuse (MYOOS) dance to funk or hip-hop to get her rhythm down. Jennifer Lopez told Dexter Roberts he needs to rattle the room and he didn't do that with "Muckalee Creek Water." Keith Urban congratulated Alex Preston for turning a cover song into an Alex song on "The A Team."

''AMERICAN IDOL" TOUR DATES ANNOUNCED
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The "American Idol Live" tour is getting into place, even as the contestants continue to get eliminated. The top 10 will start a tour beginning June 24 in Binghamton, New York. A dollar from every ticket purchased will be donated to the Melanoma Research Alliance. The winner will be announced on the May 21 show.
JAY-Z WILL HOLD MADE IN AMERICA FESTIVAL IN LOS ANGELES AND PHILLY
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jay-Z will bring his Made In America festival to Los Angeles as well as Philadelphia this year. The two-day concert will be held simultaneously in both cities Labor Day weekend. The lineups have yet to be announced. Jay-Z says the festival will celebrate all musical genres, because country and hip-hop all come from the blues. He says, "It's all music. We just use different instruments."

NAS DOCUMENTARY FEATURED AT TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL
NEW YORK (AP) — Robert De Niro says not only is the documentary about Nas the story about making an album — but about "the making of an artist." The actor and co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival introduced the film "Time Is Illmatic." It's the story behind the debut album Nas dropped in 1994. After the movie was shown, Nas performed with Alicia Keys and rapped a series of emotional rhymes, giving props to his family friends and fellow musicians — many of whom he called by name. He says the message behind his film is a simple one: "Whoever you are, you can be anything."
JOHN MELLENCAMP BEEFS WITH GOP CANDIDATE'S USE OF HIS MUSIC
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — It's happened again. Another rock star is taking issue with their music is being used by a political campaign. This time, it's John Mellencamp and the politician is conservative Republican Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin. Walker has used the song "Small Town" on the campaign trail. Walker supports an anti-union stand for most public workers. But Mellencamp says he favors collective bargaining — and the governor ought to know that. For his part, Walker says he's been a Mellencamp fan for years — and will keep playing his songs. As Walker put it: You don't have to agree with his politics to like his music.
ASHANTI'S WEAKNESS
LOS ANGELES (AP) — In her new single, Ashanti boasts that she's still "got it" when it comes to having a slamming body. But how does she keep what she has? She says it's a combination of eating right and working out hard. The singer says she tries to avoid the usual culprits like fries and other deep-fried foods. And she tries to get in a workout at least twice a week. As for her one diet-buster, Ashanti says she's hooked on Sour Patch Kids. She says she tries her hardest to avoid them, but it's hard.

NEIL YOUNG RAISES MONEY FOR PONOMUSIC
NEW YORK (AP) — Neil Young has gotten the money to help get his digital music project off the ground. He has raised more than $6 million through a Kickstarter campaign for PonoMusic. The portable music player will be offered along with an online music store. Young's project promises it will have higher quality audio, compared with other digital tracks that feature compressed audio. The PonoMusic player will cost $399 when it's rolled out in October.
PAUL WELLER'S CHILDREN WIN PRIVACY SUIT OVER PAPARAZZI
LONDON (AP) — Paul Weller's kids have come out the winners in a lawsuit over the paparazzi. Lawyers for Weller and his family sued Associated Newspapers over images taken of his daughter Dylan and his twin sons. The photos were taken while the former frontman for The Jam was on a family shopping trip in Santa Monica, California — and they ended up being published on a newspaper Web site. The award to the children totals $17,000 The site, MailOnline, says it is deeply disturbed by the ruling — and will appeal.
KIX RECORD FIRST NEW MUSIC IN NEARLY TWO DECADES
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Kix will release their first album of new music in 19 years. The as-yet-untitled album will come out July 22. The band will kick off a tour on April 25 in Columbia, Maryland. Frontman Steve Whiteman says Kix will "be coming to a dump near you very soon!"
LMFAO'S REDFOO WILL JUDGE ON "DANCING WITH THE STARS"
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Redfoo of LMFAO will pay a visit to "Dancing With The Stars." He will be a guest judge on Monday's episode. The contestants will dance to party anthems. The show is also promising two surprise performers.
PETE SEEGER TO BE HONORED AT NY STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL
BEACON, N.Y. (AP) — A music festival in New York State will stage a tribute to folk icon Pete Seeger this summer. His life will be celebrated at this year's Clearwater Festival in Beacon, New York. Seeger died in January at age 94. Organizers say the music fest will feature not only Seeger's music — but also that of his wife, who died 7 months earlier.
