SALT LAKE CITY -- Gasoline prices in Utah continue to creep upward.

AAA says the average price for unleaded regular is $2.62 statewide. That's well below the all-time high of $4.22 in July 2008. But it's also about $1 more than motorists were paying when prices bottomed out last winter.

Prices have risen for 17 straight days and gone up 12 cents in the past month.

However, Utah's average remains 7 cents below the national average, and prices at the pump are higher in 33 states.

Experts say gas prices are going up because of the weak dollar.
