WEST VALLEY CITY -- Felony charges pending against a 14-year-old could affect whether or not he is charged as an adult in connection with a murder in West Valley.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, documents filed in 3rd District Juvenile Court claim the boy was involved in the burglary of a South Jordan home just days before the shooting of JoJo Lee Brandstatt in West Valley City.

Prosecutors say the new charges should be reviewed by the judge overseeing the murder charges the boy is facing in connection with Brandstatts' death to determine if he should be tried as an adult or a minor.
