SALT LAKE CITY -- Two gang members stole a car from a man who was sitting in the driver's seat reading Monday evening and led Salt Lake police on a short chase before they were taken into custody.
The car was parked near 500 South and 300 East. Officers say the men, Michael Jackson and Derrick Provstgaard, charged the driver, pulled a gun and demanded he get out. When he did, they took off.
A nearby gang task force responded to the call and chased the stolen car.
The carjackers stopped and tried to run away, but a police dog caught up and bit one of them.
Both men could now face robbery charges.
