Utah National Guard honors soldiers for service in Iraq and Kuwait

DRAPER -- Soldiers from the Utah National Guard's Second Battalion, 211th Aviation were given the "Freedom Salute Award" Sunday for their service in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Soldiers of the 2-111th provided airlift and transportation support for personnel and equipment in the U.S. Central Command area of operations in Iraq and Kuwait. The unit spent about a year overseas.

Each soldier was handed a commemorative flag and case, a Defender of Freedom Certificate, lapel pins and a commemorative coin.

Employers of the soldiers were also recognized. They were given an Employer Freedom Medal and lapel pin.
