CENTERVILLE -- A grandfather, his son and grandson have all been arrested in a string of burglaries in Davis County.
A spokesman for the Centerville Police Department says officers responded to a vehicle burglary Saturday at Iggy's Sports Grill near the corner of Parrish Lane and Market Place Drive. Surveillance video gave officers a good description of the suspect vehicle.
A Bountiful officer spotted the car and stopped it as the suspects were leaving a restaurant. Inside the car were several purses and other stolen property, as well as burglary tools.
Police arrested three generations. Forty-nine-year-old Donald Madrid and his 31-year-old son Joshua have lengthy criminal records. They were booked into the Davis County Jail. They also arrested the 14-year-old grandson and booked him into the Farmington Bay Youth Detention Facility.
Investigators are looking into whether the Madrids are behind dozens of car burglaries in southern Davis County. Police say the 14-year-old told officers this is how they make their money to survive.
Police say this case is a good example of why it's a bad idea to leave valuables in vehicles.
