Home prices in Utah dropped by more than 6 percent last year. Logan is the only Utah city with a reported increase in home prices.
According to a report by the Federal Housing Finance Agency, home prices in Logan increased 1.9 percent last year. That ranks 32nd in the country among metropolitan areas.
In Salt Lake, prices fell by nearly 3.5 percent; in Provo-Orem more than 4.5 percent. St. George saw the biggest decrease in the state at 13.3 percent. That puts the city in the bottom 50 nationwide.
While statewide prices fell a little more than 6.5 percent, some surrounding states fared worse. Nevada saw a 28 percent decline; in California prices dropped 25 percent; Arizona had a 20 percent decrease.
In the last quarter of 2008, national prices plunged by more than 18 percent to the lowest level on record.
