Park City police are investigating the reported sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl. The young girl was babysitting other children, and no adults were inside. Park City police Capt. Phil Kirk said, "Obviously, it's New Year's so most likely they are out for the night."

Police say 23-year-old Ramiro Valdes-Angel broke into the apartment around 5 a.m. and sexually assaulted the girl. "It's not a random attack, or stranger," Kirk said. "It's someone known to the family, for whatever reason, decided to break in."

Within minutes of the 911 call, Park City police were at the scene and made an arrest. Kirk said, "Fortunately with a good description provided by her, we were able to locate him quickly and book him into the Summit County Jail."

There were no reports that any of the other children were harmed. Kirk said, "We're not clear on the details of who she was watching and if she is old enough to be doing that." The girl is with her family and is getting counseling.

Police are still investigating. Valdes-Angel was booked into jail for forcible sexual abuse of a child and burglary of a home.
