(KSL News) Sen. Orrin Hatch used his influence and got President Bush to commute the sentence of rapper John Forte.

Forte was arrested in 2001 in a New Jersey airport for possession of 31 pounds of liquid cocaine. It was worth about $1.4 million.

Forte was convicted and sentenced to a mandatory minimum of 14 years in a federal prison. Hatch says six years in prison is enough because he believes Forte isn't a risk to society and he's a musical genius.
