(KSL News) A man shot last week after breaking into a West Valley City home looking for his estranged wife is facing attempted aggravated murder charges.

The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office also charged Robert Hunter with aggravated burglary involving domestic violence, and two counts of stalking.

Hunter was shot last week by Joseph McIntosh after Hunter broke into his home and allegedly threatened him and his estranged wife with two loaded handguns.

West Valley police say McIntosh shot Hunter in self defense and cleared him of any charges.
