(KSL News) An experienced rock climber fell about 20 feet today in Big Cottonwood Canyon.

Search crews tell us the 60-year-old was climbing on a rock face without ropes in the Dead Snag climbing area. He was looking for another rope anchor when a rock he grabbed onto came loose. The man fell and landed on a ledge, hurting his arm.

Salt Lake County sheriff's officials tell us some other climbers helped him the rest of the way down the mountain, where he was picked up by search and rescue crews.
