(KSL News) Fire officials plan to implement summer fire restrictions in some areas of southern Utah by the end of the month.
Starting June 30, visitors to Kane County's Zion National Park will no longer be allowed to set campfires. They will also be prohibited from smoking or setting off fireworks on park land.
The same restrictions also will apply to federal, state and unincorporated private lands in Washington County.
Violation of the restrictions can result in a $5,000 fine and/or up to one year in prison.
