Randall Jeppesen reportingUtah's own David Archuleta is moving on to the final round of "American Idol," but he's not the only Murray resident who grabbed some national attention this week.

When Murray Mayor Daniel Snarr was shown on "American Idol," the online blogs started going crazy about the long handlebar mustache. The show's host even made mention of it.

"I'm kind of embarrassed about it," Snarr said.

But the mayor says a lot of the bloggers have it all wrong about their description of him. "I'm no hick!" he laughed. "I don't think I'm a hick at all. You know, I've always been a very astute businessman."

He says he shaved off his somewhat famous mustache just before his wedding to appease his father-in-law but has had it most of the time since, even while serving in the Special Forces.

What's his next adventure after "American Idol?" He's taking his handlebar mustache paragliding off the Point of the Mountain.
