FARMINGTON — A former Davis High School teacher accused of having sex with teenage boys is now facing more trouble.
Prosecutors say they have now identified a third victim. Because of that, criminal charges against Brianne Land Altice, 35, were amended in 2nd District Court to now include a fifth count of rape, a first-degree felony. She also faces two counts of forcible sodomy, a first-degree felony, and three counts of forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony.
Altice, who used to teach English at Davis High School, was already accused of having sex with a 17-year-old boy between April 1 and June 30, 2013, as well as with a 16-year-old student between January and June 2013. Information about the third alleged victim was not immediately available.
The first teen testified in February of his persistent flirtations toward Altice, his teacher at the time when he was 16, and how the relationship eventually escalated to a series of sexual encounters, including in Altice's home. The boy said he initially felt proud about his relationship with Altice, but that later turned into "guilt and shame."
A preliminary hearing for Altice was held earlier this year and a trial date had been set. It was cancelled when the alleged second victim was identified. Another preliminary hearing based on the new charges is scheduled for Jan. 15.
