SOUTH JORDAN – Police are investigating a body found in Utah's Jordan River Sunday morning.
Police received a call around 8:15 a.m. from people walking their dogs along the Jordan River Parkway Trail after they spotted what they thought was a body in the water at approximately 10000 South.
Rescue units from the South Jordan Police and Fire Departments responded and were able to recover the body of an adult male by 11:30 a.m., according to Sam Winkler, Master Officer of the South Jordan Police Department. It is unknown how long the deceased body was in the water.
Officials from the Medical Examiner’s Office and detectives are working to determine who the victim is and the cause of death.
The Jordan River Parkway Trail is currently closed between 9800 South and 10600 South while the investigation continues. Police anticipate the trail will be closed for several hours.
