(KSL News) The sluggish economy is taking a toll on Utah's job market.
About 41,000 Utahns currently are considered unemployed, compared to around 33,000 in February 2007.
Economists say many of the job cuts are coming from Utah's construction industry. It's a result of dramatic drops in new home construction which fell by as much as 70 percent.
However, as far as adding new jobs, Utah's doing well compared to the rest of the nation. Economists say the state accounted for 3.5 percent of the nation's new jobs this past year, even though the state represents less than 1 percent of the total market.
