Alex Cabrero reportingDetectives say they've caught the man who shot and killed a college hockey coach outside a restaurant in Sandy last November. The suspect is now in jail, but there are still a lot of questions in this case.

Investigators say they've been following him for a while, but had to wait until they had enough evidence to go after him. Police say there is a motive, but they aren't saying what that motive is. Chief Stephen Chapman says there is still a lot of work to do in this case for prosecutors, and he doesn't want to jeopardize any of it.

Something happened in a Village Inn parking lot in Sandy last November that doesn't make any sense, even now. Kenneth Doleszar, from Springville, was shot and killed; and now, police say Eugene Christopher Wright pulled the trigger.

Sandy Police Chief Stephen Chapman said, "This has been, however, a team effort involving all of our police divisions solving this case."

While Chapman is proud to finally make an arrest in this case, he can't say for sure, or at least wouldn't reveal, why the shooting happened. "The suspect was a business acquaintance of the victim. The two had been working on a business deal at the time of Mr. Dolezsar's death," he said. But exactly what that business deal was, "I can't comment on that one, thank you."

We went to the business Sandy police say Wright owned, Exchange Place Capitol in Salt Lake City. It's a firm that dealt with capitol investments and property development. However, it was empty; workers at nearby businesses say Wright got out of there in the past week.

We also went to Wright's apartment in downtown Salt Lake City, where residents say his vehicle was parked, but he was gone. Some residents of the same apartment complex told us they were completely shocked he was arrested for this. They say, as far as they knew, he was a normal guy living there, just like them.

As far as Sandy is concerned, it's case closed for them, now that it's been turned over to the District Attorney's office. Police don't plan to charge anyone else in the case. A spokesman for the District Attorney's office said not commenting on a motive either, that it would have to wait until the trial starts.

Dolezsar's friend and coach with the hockey team, Matt Beaudry, told KSL he can't wait to hear what the motive is; but more importantly, he's just happy an arrest has been made.

Doleszar's hockey team is planning on playing a game dedicated to him this Saturday night in Provo.
