SALT LAKE CITY -- How much do you think you could recite from the Preamble? One little guy probably has you beat.
It started as a project in pre-school: The kids would memorize as much as they could of the Preamble. To the surprise of one 3-year-old's parents, Beau Knowlton quickly committed the whole thing to memory.
We've heard it a million times and most of us can recall a few lines, but somewhere in the middle, it starts to get a little difficult.
That's not the case for Beau. He knows the whole thing by heart.
"About a year ago we noticed he remembers song lyrics really well," said Branigan Knowlton, Beau's father. "And he would sing a song that we hadn't heard in a long time."
Little Beau has always been a fast learner. He knew his letters and numbers by the time he was 2 years old. He also knows countries by their flags.
But when he came home from preschool one day reciting the Constitution, his parents were amazed.
"He's one of the youngest in the class," Branigan said. "I didn't know how much he would pick up."
They caught it on camera and posted it on YouTube for friends and family, and this little boy with a big memory is now on his way to becoming that next online video to make you gush.
KSL tested its newsroom staff to see just how bright Beau is, and as it turned out, most weren't up to the task. But Beau's always there to fill in all the blanks where the rest of us get lost.
Beau is now working on the Pledge of Allegiance, and then his dad says it's on to the Gettysburg Address.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
