SALT LAKE CITY — Two Utahns are competing for a $1 million prize in the 45th Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest in March.

Cameron Bailey from Salt Lake City and Elizabeth Dehart from West Jordan were named as part of Pillsbury's 100 finalists to compete in Orlando, Florida in a three-day cooking competition. Finalists will compete for cash and merchandise prizes, with a $1 million grand prize up for grabs.

Participants were asked to submit an original recipe that used at least two different eligible products from two different lists. The eligible ingredients were described on the contest website, with exact varieties and sizes spelled out.

Recipes had to fit in one of four categories: Breakfast & Brunches, Entertaining Appetizers, Dinner Made Easy™ and Sweet Treats. At the Contest Finals, one recipe will be selected in each category as the overall winner, with one of the final four winning the grand prize. The grand prize winner will also be given $10,000 worth of GE kitchen appliances.

Bailey submitted a recipe for bacon-chicken sliders with raspberry-onion spread. The sliders take 45 minutes to prepare, but offer a new alternative to the traditional sandwich.

"I've entered several times, but this is my first time being chosen as a finalist. I'm very excited. I've actually worked on this recipe for about three years," Bailey told KSL. "It's just kind of a fun play on textures and tastes."

Dehart also submitted a sandwich recipe, with her falafel sandwiches with fire-roasted tomato aioli. Her recipe, too, takes 45 minutes to prepare.

The Pillsbury Bake-Off Contest began in 1949, with the contest's first winner receiving $50,000. Since Pillsbury's first competition, more than 4,000 participants have competed for the grand prize.

The grand prize winner will be announced on the Martha Stewart Show on Hallmark Channel at 10 a.m. ET on March 27.
