SALT LAKE CITY -- A Utah company is sending some love to the soldiers serving overseas.
Saturday, volunteers helped put care packages together through the group Operation: Adopt a Ghost. The packages are filled with needed items like gloves and hats, as well as items that will remind them of home: chocolate, cookies and a Valentine.
"I just pray a lot and (stuff) shows up," said Linda Larsen of Operation: Adopt a Ghost. "That's kind of what it is. We have a distribution group and some get excited more than others at times and everybody just kind of bubbles to the top when we need them. Just like the perfect angels show up."
Linda Larsen started the project four years ago when her son was serving overseas. When they started they sent packages to 189 servicemen and women. Now they ship to more than 4,700 military members, all with Utah ties.
