There was a bizarre construction accident in Davis County this afternoon.
A construction crane apparently dropped a huge steel beam onto I-15 in the Farmington area. It happened around 2:15 p.m. The beam was part of the new overpass construction being built that goes over I-15 from the Legacy Highway Project.
The construction accident lead to a four-car crash. A total of three cars were damaged. The freeway was shut down for about an hour until the beam and debris were cleaned up.
All the drivers received minor injuries. A construction worker who was on the ground near the crane also suffered minor injuries.
The highway patrol doesn't know why the crane broke.
