Greg Neft, KSL NewsradioThe University of Utah says they'll switch some of their shuttle buses to a very unconventional fuel.
If you ride one of the converted shuttles, you'll notice something different. University spokesman Coralie Alder says you'll probably notice the smell of food.
Alder says they'll be using recycled vegetable oil from campus restaurants in two of the shuttles. One day students might smell French fries and another day some fine Chinese cooking.
Alder says it's an effort to clean up the environment, and student James Kazinski is hungry for that. He says, "I don't have a problem with them smelling French fries. It's a, sort of a small price to pay to sort of help the university itself be a little more green."
The buses should be in service by August.
