SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The executive director of a Utah state historic park has been fired after park officials say he took $240,000.
Board chairman Ellis Ivory of This is the Place State Park said in a statement Tuesday night that an internal investigation showed Matt Dahl took the money over the course of two years.
Park officials say Dahl is cooperating with the investigation and is promising full reimbursement.
Attempts to reach Dahl by The Associated Press were not immediately successful.
The pioneer-themed park in Salt Lake City is at the site where Mormon pioneers first entered the valley.
The Utah Legislature has provided financial assistance for the park in recent years, including $2 million in 2006.
Ivory says the park is now on good financial footing.
