SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- All antifreeze sold in Utah must include an ingredient that makes it less palatable to pets.
A law that requires denatonium benzoate be mixed in with antifreeze went into effect Saturday. The bitter ingredient masks the sweet taste of antifreeze, which can be tasty but lethal to animals.
The Utah Humane Society says 10,000 dogs and cats suffer antifreeze poisoning every year.
