SALT LAKE CITY -- Salt Lake police are searching for a group of masked men that barged into a home near 2300 South and 1700 East overnight and attacked and then robbed the man living there.
Detective Rick Wall says it was close to 1 a.m. when the men kicked in the front door. The victim was playing a computer game online with friends. The masked men than attacked the victim with a stick or some sort of bat, leaving cuts on his head.
"One of the friends of the victim who was online heard through the headset what they believed to be the assault or the commotion so they decided to drive over to the victim's house to check on him," says Wall.
The friend got to the home near Sugar House Park just in time to see the thieves leaving in the victim's car. The friend was able to recognize one of the suspects as an acquaintance as the man removed his mask while getting into the car.
Police say the robbers took various personal electronics and a computer from the home.
