SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Western Governors University says its enrollment has surpassed 20,000 students.
The online university based in Salt Lake City has been growing by 30 percent a year since it was founded by 19 governors in 1999.
It's been called the best and cheapest college you never heard of by Time magazine -- tuition runs about $6,000 a year, and the school is fully accredited.
The nonprofit university is designed for working adults trying to earn bachelor's or master's degrees.
Western Governors University draws students from all states. It has awarded nearly 7,000 degrees in business, teacher education, information technology and health care.
