(KSL News) First degree murder charges have been filed against a man accused of shooting his girlfriend in the head.
Parley Dutson is accused of shooting Kara Hopkins last weekend because she refused have sex with him in the middle of a crowded party. Hopkins died later that night.
Dutson has also been charged with aggravated sexual assault.
Hopkins' mother claims Dutson was high on mushrooms at the time of the shooting. Court documents state he also smoked marijuana.
Dutson is in jail on $500,000 bail.
