(KSL News) A Salt Lake County man could face up to six months in jail for abusing kittens.

Clint L. Wilkes pleaded guilty to one count of animal abandonment today. In exchange for the plea, prosecutors dropped two other misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty against him.

Police said Wilkes would find the kittens through ads in the newspaper, and then break their bones or burn them with chemicals. He would then have his girlfriend drop the injured animals off at shelters.

Wilkes will be sentenced in May.
