BRASILIA, Brazil (AP) - Brazil's president has bounced back in a poll after her popularity dropped following widespread anti-government protests.

President Dilma Rousseff saw her personal approval hit 58 percent in the most recent poll conducted by the MDA polling institute and published Tuesday. Her approval was 49 percent in July.

Just over 38 percent of respondents rated Rousseff government as "good" or "excellent." That's up from 31 percent in July.

MDA interviewed 2,002 people across Brazil between Aug. 31 and Sept. 4. The margin of error was about two percentage points.

The Washington-based Eurasia Group consulting firm says in a research note the results show that pundits in Brazil have overstated Rousseff's vulnerabilities from the protests. It notes she has the highest approval rating among the leaders of Latin America's five biggest nations.
