PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A congregation at a Providence church prayed for West Africa after relatives of two ministers died in the Ebola outbreak.
Worshippers at the Generations for Christ Mission Church prayed and sang Sunday as they comforted the Revs. Ezekial Kparkar Solee and Sahr Kallon.
Solee told The Providence Journal (http://bit.ly/1uhkVPO ) that his 25-year-old brother in Liberia died from Ebola Friday. Kallon's 68-year-old cousin, who was a doctor, died from the virus last week in Sierra Leone.
Ebola has killed more than 1,000 people in the current outbreak in West Africa.
Kallon says his congregation includes people from several West Africa countries, and they're all concerned about family and friends.
The Rhode Island Council of Churches will hold a prayer service for West Africa on Tuesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Providence.
