TOOELE — One woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle Sunday night.

State Route 112 was closed in both directions as police investigated the incident that happened about 9:15 p.m. at 2163 West along the highway. Utah Highway Patrol asked drivers to avoid the area, and take Erda Way as an alternate route, as it was anticipated the roads would be closed into the morning.

Tooele police Cpl. Colbey Bentley said the driver of the vehicle that hit the woman was cooperating with police. He said there are no obvious signs of impairment.

The woman, believed to be 25-30 years old, was not identified.
