LAYTON — A 75-year-old man was killed and a woman was taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision on state Route 193 in Layton on Thursday.
Layton Sgt. Michael Donnelly said police were called around 4:49 p.m. and responded to a collision at 931 East and Route 193. Donnelly said that a 50-year-old woman was driving an SUV westbound on Route 193, and collided with the driver's side of a pickup truck as it was coming out of the entrance of the Quail Ridge mobile home park.
The driver of the truck, a 75-year-old man, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. After the initial collision, the truck then hit a third vehicle which was on Route 193.
The woman was transported to a local hospital with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.
Donnelly said the department received multiple calls and said there were many witnesses on scene. Two civilians — both medical professionals — stopped to assist and one of them began to administer CPR.
The eastbound lane of Route 193 was closed for around four hours on Thursday afternoon, although it was cleared by 9:10 p.m.
Police are still investigating the crash, and Donnelly said the driver of the SUV has been cooperative.
Police have not publicly identified anyone involved in the crash.
Correction: An earlier version incorrectly said the crash occurred on state Route 93; the crash occurred on state Route 193.
