OGDEN — Fire crews put out a fire in an unoccupied apartment building that was "fully engulfed in flames" early Saturday morning.
Fire crews were dispatched at 12:39 a.m. to the building on the 3400 block of Washington Boulevard, according to a press release from Ogden's fire department.
The three-story apartment complex was still under construction and the fire caused a "total loss" of the building.
Firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to the apartment and it did not spread to adjacent structures.
The statement said signs and landscaping at surrounding businesses were damaged because of the excessive heat from the fire, but were not structurally damaged "due to the quick actions of firefighters on the scene."
There were no injuries to firefighters or citizens. Ogden fire asked people to avoid the area on Saturday morning, saying firefighters were still on the scene.
The response to the fire included firefighters from the Ogden, South Ogden, Washington Terrace and Roy fire departments. This included 30 firefighters and a battalion chief, three ladder trucks, two fire engines, two ambulances, and one paramedic truck.
The fire marshal's office was on scene Saturday morning to investigate the cause of the fire and the building was being secured.
