TOOELE — A fire that sparked early Tuesday burned one home in Tooele County, officials said.
Fire crews responded to reports of a fire in South Willow Canyon about 2 a.m. and found a large cabin burned and the area engulfed in flames, according to North Tooele Fire District Chief Randy Willden.
Tooele County sheriff's deputies went door to door to evacuate other cabins in the area, Willden said. By 9 a.m., evacuations had been lifted and video taken from the scene showed mostly smoldering fire activity.
Meanwhile, crews gained some containment on a fire that sparked Monday in Davis County. The Francis Fire, burning in the foothills east of Fruit Heights and Kaysville, grew to 365 acres and was 20% contained as of Tuesday, according to Utah fire officials.
The fire was caused by lightning that had struck last week and remained smoldering in the ground, fire officials say.
