GARDEN CITY, Rich County — Two people are in critical condition after a rollover crash in Garden City, officials said Wednesday.

The crash took place shortly after 6:30 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 89 and state Route 30. A semitruck ran a stop sign and attempted to turn right onto state Route 30, Utah Highway Patrol officials said in a prepared statement on their website.

The semi, which had a refrigerated box-style trailer attached, then rolled and jackknifed into a sporting goods store in Raspberry Square, troopers said.

Two males were in the truck and were transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital and later airlifted to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray, troopers said. No one was injured inside the store.

The names and ages of the two males injured were not immediately available.

Witnesses told authorities that the semi was moving erratically and at a high rate of speed.

Troopers said the building the semi crashed into was severely damaged. Engineering personnel were called to the scene to ensure the semi can be safely removed.

The crash remains under investigation.
