LEHI — Police are searching for a man they believe was involved in a shooting of a convenience store clerk in American Fork early Saturday morning.
The clerk, identified as 39-year-old Tina Marie Lowe, was found by a customer with multiple gunshot wounds at Tesoro Fast Gas, 312 NW State, shortly before 6:45 a.m., American Fork police said.
Lowe was transported to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, and police said she remains in critical condition Saturday night.
Police said they are searching for her estranged husband, Michael Darrin Lowe, 49, in relation to the shooting.
American Fork Police Lt. Gregg Ludlow said Michael Lowe's vehicle was found abandoned by Lehi police Saturday after and an extensive search of the area was conducted between the Lehi and American Fork police departments, as well as Utah County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Public Safety.
However, they were unable to find the man.
"At this time Michael Lowe is considered armed and dangerous and possibly suicidal," Ludlow wrote in a release.
Ludlow said it appears there had been a history of domestic violence within the relationship that had gone unreported.
"Our investigation has shown an ongoing history of domestic violence related incidents which unfortunately have not been reported to law enforcement," he said. "As an agency we want to encourage anyone in this circumstance to seek help* from law enforcement regardless of any past history, background or circumstances."
Anyone who may have any information regarding the case or know where Michael Lowe may be is asked to call the American Fork Police Department at 801-763-3020.
Utah Domestic Violence Coalition operates a confidential statewide, 24-hour domestic abuse hotline at 1-800-897-LINK (5465). Resources are also available online: udvc.org.
Note: Early reports from police indicated that the suspect had barricaded himself in a home. Police later corrected that information to indicate that police had found the man’s car outside that same address.
