SALT LAKE CITY — It’s just a few days until Mother’s Day and many of us are still scrambling to make a plan and find great gift ideas.

If your mom is anything like mine, she already has most everything she really wants. Adding to her cadre of collections seems less like a gift and more like giving her one more item to dust.

After careful thought and consideration, here are five gift ideas that are sure to make any mom feel like the queen bee on Mother’s Day.

1. Order a corsage

Up until the late 1990’s you couldn’t walk into any chapel without seeing a colorful, fresh-flower corsage pinned to almost every woman in the congregation.

For the last 20 years they were seen as old-fashioned, but corsages have evolved and now they’re trending again,” said Amy Hawke, Flower Patch floral design manager. “We use a variety of modern flowers and are making more wrist corsages than ever before.”

According to Hawke, they’ve already taken orders for more than 800 Mother’s Day corsages and expect the orders to pile in this week. “It’s usually the husband that orders his wife’s corsage.”

2. Get her a massage

It’s the gift of ahh! If she’s never had one before, you might have to go with her and get one too. “We see a lot of mother-daughter duos around Mother’s Day,” Kip Kreiling, owner of the Draper Massage Envy said. “Our gift card sales quadruple around Mother’s Day.”

“It’s such a healing experience. The challenges of modern-day motherhood are pretty crazy and if she’s working on top of all of it, taking an opportunity to de-stress and spend healthy time on herself is a fantastic thing,” Kreiling said.

3. Get her car detailed

With the busy schedule many moms keep, having the time to get the car really clean is a rare event, especially if there are child car seats to move.

"I've got so much food and dried milk-splatter and general dirtiness happening in my car. I told my husband that all I wanted for Mother's Day was a super-clean car," said Natalie Clements, a Herriman mother of four, including three-year-old triplets.

Having mom's car cleaned like it was new might go a long way to making her feel like she is appreciated on Mother's Day.

4.Take her to a performance

What mom wouldn’t love spending time with her husband or children at a unique live performance?

Indoor and outdoor theaters across Utah have announced their summer schedules with shows that will delight any mom. The Red Butte and Sandy amphitheaters create a quaint ambiance perfect for an evening with mother.

If you want BIG brownie points from mom, The Capitol Theater is featuring "The Barber of Seville," "Jersey Boys" and "Wicked" on its summer schedule.

5. Take her to a Mother’s Day brunch

Fine linens, fancy serve-ware and elegant foods are a perfect way to celebrate with mom on her special day. Most restaurants offer a special Mother’s Day menu.

The most Popular brunches are found at both the Little America and Grand America hotels. Also popular are Thanksgiving Point Harvest Restaurant or Log Haven in Millcreek Canyon.

If going out isn’t an option, consider throwing your own Mother’s Day brunch. Many mature women have acquired a nice collection of linens and fancy serving platters. Pull them out and surprise mom with a special brunch using her own serveware. Just make sure mom doesn't have to clean it all up.
